Reproducing a result six months later: versions, snapshots and fingerprinted exports
An auditor who reopens a file six months later must get the same figure, or an explanation of why it changed. Phoeniks follows one chain for every output (source, dataset version, model version, run, output, export) in which nothing is overwritten and every export carries a fingerprint of what was delivered.
- The Phoeniks team
One chain, from source to export#
Every figure delivered to a user should resolve to one chain: the source, the version of the dataset read, the version of the model used, the run, the output and the export that carried it. An output that cannot resolve to that chain is shown as unavailable rather than filled in.
Nothing is overwritten#
A new version links to its predecessor, and the predecessor stays readable. The facts needed to reproduce a run are written when the computation happens and cannot be changed afterwards. A run without its record of inputs is not evidence.
A fingerprint on every export#
Every export carries a fingerprint of its content. If anyone changes a figure after delivery, the fingerprint no longer matches. Phoeniks also refuses to fall back silently to today's values when a manifest refers to older ones.
Why the EU AI Act dates matter#
The AI omnibus has been in force since 27 July 2026. The high-risk regime of Annex III applies from 2 December 2027, and that of Annex I from 2 August 2028. A score used for credit to a natural person could fall in scope: documentation and traceability are built now rather than retrofitted.
